A U.S. Naval Academy midshipman died Saturday morning, the service academy announced Saturday.

The Naval Academy identified the student Sunday as sophomore Duke Carrillo, who collapsed during the running portion of a physical readiness test Saturday. Despite attempts to resuscitate him, Carrillo died at a hospital.

Carrillo and his twin brother, Dylan, were both members of the class of 2022. Their younger brother, Jake, is a freshman at the academy.

Duke Carrillo was a top student and wanted to become a naval aviator. His company officer said he will be quote “especially missed.”
