U.S. Coast Guard Festival holding first ever golf fundraiser

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — After the coronavirus pandemic wiped out most events in 2020, on of West Michigan’s summertime staples is taking a new approach to ensure 2021 will not include a cancellation.

The Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival announced it is hosting a golf tournament this Spring to bring in additional funds for this year’s festival. It’s the first time the festival will hold a golf tournament. Organizers say money raised through the event will go to promoting, marketing, and preservation of the Coast Guard Festival.

“This year in particular much needed funds will be generated toward achieving our public acknowledgement of all our U S Coast Guard personnel,” said the festival’s Executive Director, Michael J. Smith, Commander Retired.

The 4-person scramble tournament will be held at the Pigeon Creek Golf Course on May 8. Registration for participants and sponsors is open on the festival’s website.

The 2021 Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival is scheduled to run from July 30 to August 8.
