Steve Snell Named Associate Head Coach for AFA Basketball
U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – Air Force men’s basketball coach Dave Pilipovich announced today that Steve Snell has been promoted to associate head coach. Snell will begin his sixth season with the Falcons this fall, having joined the staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2007-08 season.
“Steve has been a valuable asset to this program the past five years,” said Pilipovich, who was named the Falcons’ permanent head coach on March 3. “His knowledge of the game and expertise in scouting and recruiting will help our program continue to excel in the future.”
A 22-year coaching veteran, Snell spent two seasons as a member of the coaching staff at Louisiana-Monroe before coming to Air Force. He helped the Warhawks to the co-championship of the Sun Belt’s West Division in 2006-07 with an 18-14 record, including a perfect 14-0 mark at home. In addition, Snell has served as an assistant coach at Tulane, Marshall, East Tennessee State, North Carolina-Greensboro, Wingate College and Radford University.
Snell earned a bachelor’s degree in recreation management from Radford University in 1988. He and his wife, Ann, have two sons, Jaden (9) and Jordan (8).
