Eagle, globe and anchor make Daytona appearance
Marine NASCAR fans should be on the lookout for a cherished Marine symbol during Saturday night’s Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway.
The Marine Corps logo will be displayed along the top side of race car driver Brad Keselowski’s Penske Racing No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger, replacing the logo of one of his sponsors, Carlisle Companies Inc.
In addition, 10 active-duty Marines and their families, representing Marines worldwide, are being honored at this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.
“These are the true heroes in my book,” Keselowski said. “The freedoms they provide us allow us to drive race cars for a living.”
Hosted by Carlisle, the Marines and their families will participate in a variety of activities, including a private meet and greet with Keselowski, attendance at the drivers’ meeting and pace car rides around the speedway.
Keselowski, who picked up his third win of the year at the Quaker State 400 last weekend at Kentucky Speedway, says he hopes to honor Marines with another first-place finish.
“Hopefully we can celebrate with [the Marines] in Victory Lane,” he said.
The race begins at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
