2012 U.S. Army Sexual Harassment/Assault Summit begins

  • Annual Sexual Harassment/Assault Summitt underway

WASHINGTON (May 7, 2012) — The Army’s Annual “I. A.M. Strong” Sexual Harassment/Assault Prevention Summit takes place May 7-9 at The National Conference Center in Leesburg, VA.

The annual summit is part of an Army-wide prevention campaign and brings together command leadership, subject matter experts, Soldiers, and representatives from other military Services to educate, train, and communicate new ways of addressing prevention of sexual harassment and sexual assault in the Army.

This year’s summit aims to further reduce the number of incidents of sexual harassment and assault within our ranks by promoting intervention and encouraging help seeking behaviors.

The SHARP Summit is an integral part of the Army’s SHARP Program; a comprehensive integration and transformation of the Army’s Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program and Prevention of Sexual Harassment efforts.

The SHARP Program reinforces the Army’s commitment to eliminate incidents of sexual harassment and sexual assault through awareness and prevention, training, victim advocacy, reporting, and accountability.
